PROFILE
I’m relatively new to the field of software development; with a good basic knowledge of Object Oriented Programming (Ruby and PHP) and also some experience in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. A three week internship with a software engineering company in London gave me a foundation of PHP best practices and some great experience developing some mini applications in Silex and Symfony. Since then I have started working at FreeAgent in Edinburgh as Junior Support Engineer, working with Ruby on Rails. The work is extremely rewarding as I'm significantly developing my debugging skills. I created this online CV using Bootstrap as some evidence of my front-end skills.
The move to software engineering was a significant change in career path for me. After leaving university with a degree in Physics, I decided to follow my dream and pursue a career as a chef. In the six years since then I achieved a senior position in a Michelin Star establishment and gained a wealth of transferable skills from working in fast-paced, high pressure kitchens. I have, however, become more and more interested in development and started to learn how to code.
Due to my background in Physics I have good numerical, logical and mathematical skills; I’m picking up development skills with relative ease. I’m eager to get a foothold in this industry, learn more and improve.
